Removing endometrial polyps or displaced intrauterine contraceptive devices.
Like SIS the procedure must be timed for the early follicular phase when a thin endometrium is expected. This is especially so for diagnosing and removing endometrial polyps otherwise thick secretory endometrial fragments might give high false positive or negative results. Sessile polyps should be shaved in layers whereas pedunculated ones could be resected at the stalk. In both cases the base of the polyp should be removed to prevent future recurrence.
